Modi's Rs 5,100 crore power play in Arunachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to travel to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Monday for major development announcements. The leader will establish groundwork for infrastructure projects exceeding Rs 5,100 crore in Itanagar. Two significant hydropower developments form the centerpiece of these initiatives. Modi will also conduct ceremonies at the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple complex in Udaipur during his Tripura visit. The 45-minute temple program focuses on cultural and spiritual elements.

NEEPCO will construct the Heo Hydro Electric Project generating 240 MW and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project producing 186 MW. These facilities represent a combined investment of Rs 3,700 crore through a partnership between NEEPCO and Arunachal Pradesh authorities. The Heo project will create approximately 1000 MUs annually while Tato-I generates about 803 MUs each year. Both developments advance India's renewable energy objectives while transforming the northeastern power infrastructure. The initiatives promise substantial employment opportunities and economic growth for regional communities.
