A two-day netball and soccer tournament honoring Vice President Kembo Mohadi will commence in Beitbridge, drawing hundreds of youths from across Matabeleland South. The event, organized by the Zanu-PF provincial youth league, involves 420 participants representing all twelve constituencies in the province. Its stated objectives include talent development and raising awareness about the dangers of drug and substance abuse.
Newman Masuku, a deputy director in the Vice President's office, confirmed that logistical arrangements are complete, with buses transporting the teams. The initial games will take place at Welton Primary School, with semi-finals and finals scheduled for Ronnie's Arena on Saturday. Vice President Mohadi is expected to attend the final matches as the guest of honor.
The competition, which also coincides with the Vice President's birthday celebrations, aims to expose raw talent. Players already affiliated with professional leagues are excluded from participation. Talent scouts will be present to identify promising athletes for potential recruitment by professional clubs.
