Parul Akter died Friday morning after sustaining critical injuries from a residential gas explosion. The 32-year-old mother of two passed away at 7am while receiving care at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. Resident surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman confirmed that burns covered 22 percent of her body and damaged her respiratory system.
The blast occurred during early Thursday hours at a home in Mohammadpur's Dhaka Udyan neighborhood. Emergency responders transported Akter to the medical facility immediately after the incident. The woman originated from Hawa Kandi village under Faridganj Police Station within Chandpur district. Medical staff treated her burns at the Female High Dependency Unit before she succumbed to her injuries.
