Mom wins court order forcing deadbeat dad to pay school fees

A mechanic pleading poverty must finally pay up for his neglected kids' education. Yolanda Matura dragged Henrick Ndau before a magistrate at the Harare Civil Court, demanding he support their three offspring properly. She requested a monthly increase from one hundred to two hundred dollars since the current amount barely covers survival essentials.

Their fourteen-year-old cannot start high school yet because of unpaid bills and requires a specific diet for medical issues. An accumulated debt keeps the ten-year-old behind, while the five-year-old missed early childhood development entirely because funding never materialized.

Ndau argued against paying more, claiming his employment remains unstable and relies on random gigs. He offered to split the one hundred forty-six-dollar debt halfway. Matura fired back that he actually fixes cars from home with few expenses and simply refuses to help.

Magistrate Hannah Fazilahmed commanded the father to clear every cent of the outstanding school balance immediately. She directed both parents to select a government institution for the teenager while ruling that they must share all future educational costs equally, though the monthly stipend stays at one hundred dollars.
