Moms blessed with bubs and bakkies on Christmas Day

First Lady handed out gifts to moms who gave birth on Christmas. Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa visited three clinics in Harare: Mabvuku Polyclinic, Edith Opperman Clinic in Mbare, and Warren Park Polyclinic. She gave baby hampers and groceries to mothers who delivered their newborns on that day. The care packages contained things like clothes, blankets, toiletries, and food items. Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume joined her for the visits and thanked her for the gesture.

The mothers at these clinics were reportedly emotional and grateful. At Mabvuku, seven babies were born, five boys and two girls. Christine Dhobiwa, one beneficiary, called the birth a spiritual blessing and appreciated the support for her family. Edith Opperman Clinic had ten new babies, seven girls and three boys. A mother there named Ethel Zurugo said the gifts were unexpected help. Six women received hampers at Warren Park Polyclinic. Ruvarashe Chikunguru expressed happiness at having a baby girl after two boys. Another mother, Primrose Headson, described the experience as memorable. During the visits, Mnangagwa also encouraged the new mothers to breastfeed and care for their infants properly.

The event highlighted the First Lady's focus on women and children through her Angel of Hope Foundation. Mayor Mafume noted the scale of their clinics, stating they deliver over three thousand babies monthly across thirteen facilities. He said the day celebrated the gift of life itself, fitting the Christmas spirit. The activity aimed to share joy and provide material support during the festive season.
