Money Laundering Bust Hits Eezee Tee

The EFCC brought music promoter Ezekiel ThankGod to Lagos federal court yesterday. He faces seven money charges, about $397,106 in foreign cash deals. Judge Chukwujekwu Aneke heard the case after it had moved from another courtroom. Officials claim ThankGod broke rules when he traded dollars without proper permission from the central bank.

Court papers say his company failed to report large money transfers coming into their account. ThankGod said he did nothing wrong when asked about these claims. The government lawyer asked the judge to keep him locked up until trial. His defense team wanted him free with easy bail terms.

EFCC staff told the court that ThankGod skipped meetings with them after his earlier release. The judge decided to let ThankGod stay with his lawyer for just two days. The court will decide on bail tomorrow. ThankGod runs Eezee Global Concepts Limited. People know him as Eezee Tee in music circles.
