Montage unveils DDR5-9200 MT-s clock driver for next-gen PCs

Montage Technology announced a clock driver integrated circuit capable of handling DDR5 memory operating at 9200 megatransfers per second, representing a substantial increase from the 7200 MT/s chips the company released in 2024 for Intel Arrow Lake-S systems. The component utilizes low-jitter clock buffer architecture to enable precise signal distribution between host controllers and DRAM modules, improving synchronization accuracy and signal integrity for client memory products including CUDIMMs, CSODIMMs and CAMMs.

Company President Stephen Tai characterized the development as addressing distribution and synchronization challenges while establishing foundations for higher bandwidth and compact device designs. The chip incorporates power management features, allowing software configuration to deactivate unused output channels and reduce energy consumption.

Intel and AMD will launch new processor platforms in 2026 featuring Nova Lake and Zen 6 architecture, respectively, with expectations that both manufacturers will support elevated DDR5 speeds and AMD potentially adopting CUDIMM technology to match competing capabilities.
