A new action game called Morbid Metal will be available on Steam's early access program next summer. The game appeared during the Triple-I-Initiative showcase with a fast-paced one-minute trailer. Players can create three different characters with unique moves, allowing them to shapeshift between these forms during gameplay. When players die, they restart their run but can unlock permanent upgrades along the way.
The story happens inside a simulation humans created to escape climate disaster. Players become AIs that must prove themselves as mankind's next step in evolution by defeating other AIs. Felix Schade worked alone on Morbid Metal for years before starting Screen Juice in 2023. He almost gave up until positive feedback from gamers encouraged him to continue developing the project.
Ubisoft will publish the game after seeing how Schade worked with the community. The company wants to help bring this independent project to players worldwide. Morbid Metal launches exclusively on Steam with early access beginning summer of 2025. Interested gamers can add it to their wishlist right away.
