Fire at Former Moscow Electric Plant Under Control, Five Hospitalized.

Moscow emergency crews have contained a major fire that erupted at a former electrical plant building in the city's eastern district, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced through his Telegram channel on Sunday.

Emergency responders evacuated everyone from the five-story administrative building and rescued 80 people during the operation. Five individuals required hospital treatment, with other affected people receiving medical care at local clinics or the scene.

The blaze spread across 800 square meters of the structure before firefighters brought it under control. The emergency response included 60 personnel, 16 specialized vehicles, and a dedicated fire train.

Russian authorities have launched investigations into the incident. The Moscow prosecutor's office began an inquiry as the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case regarding unsafe service provisions at the facility.

Mayor Sobyanin praised the swift action of emergency crews and noted their comprehensive efforts to extinguish the fire. The building, which previously served as an electrical manufacturing facility, stands as a significant industrial landmark in Moscow's eastern district.
