MOTU’s 10pre packs 10 mic preamps, Thunderbolt 4 in a 1U box

MOTU has released the 10pre audio interface, which delivers 26 inputs and 28 outputs within a compact 1U rack design. The device provides 10 microphone preamps alongside instrument connections and supports 128-channel AVB network streaming.

Eight microphone and line inputs sit on the back, while two additional preamps appear on the front panel for quick studio connections. The preamps achieve 118 decibels of dynamic range, with noise measurements reaching negative 129 dBu and can supply 74 decibels of gain. Eight analog outputs work for standard monitoring or sending control voltage to modular synthesizers. Network options include 16 ADAT channels through optical connections and Ethernet ports for linking multiple interfaces together.

The unit uses Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 connections to communicate with computers and mobile devices while keeping latency under 1.9 milliseconds at 96 kilohertz sample rates with small buffer settings. A built-in 64-channel mixer handles local signals plus computer audio through CueMix Pro software, which adds 26 auxiliary buses along with equalization and compression on every channel. The interface supports daisy-chaining with other recent MOTU hardware and connects up to eight units through network audio. The 10pre costs $1,595 and ships immediately.
