Moya treated Atteridgeville seniors to a day of care

Dr Nasiphi Moya spent her Mandela Day giving nearly 100 gogos foot spas and nail treatments in Atteridgeville, and honestly, the whole thing hits different. The Tshwane mayor teamed up with House of Afrindi and Lacquer Nail and Beauty Clinic for their 67 Acts of Dignity rollout, while Councillor Flora Monama showed face.

Founder Thatohatsi Mangcu basically cold-called the city to partner up, and the result was a full-on pampering session with storytelling circles and dignity packs loaded with essentials. The gogos got to share decades of lived experience instead of just receiving charity, which made the exchange feel genuinely two-way.

Moya kept driving home that dignity starts with showing up, not just posting about 67 minutes of service. Township elders deal with isolation daily, and a single afternoon of real human connection can crack through that loneliness in ways policy documents never will.

And the city framed this as part of a bigger healthy-aging push across Tshwane, not a one-off stunt. The goal is keeping older residents plugged into community life year-round through ongoing programs.
