MPs Demand Answers for Missing Foreign Minister

Ghana's parliament erupted when the Foreign Affairs Minister failed to show up for scheduled questioning. Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh blasted the minister's absence and criticized government leaders for losing contact with him since Friday. The opposition politician demanded answers about how parliamentary staff could not reach a cabinet member for days.

Annor Dompreh questioned what communication network the minister uses and wondered if he had traveled to space. He called the situation unacceptable and noted a troubling pattern among government officials who skip parliamentary sessions. The Chief Whip insisted that ministers must respect the legislative body and warned that continued absences would face consequences.

Parliament's authority suffers when cabinet members ignore their duties to lawmakers. The minister gave no explanation for missing his appearance and failed to notify the Speaker beforehand. Opposition members expressed growing frustration with what they see as ministers avoiding accountability. The incident highlights broader concerns about government officials sidestepping parliamentary oversight and weakening democratic institutions.
