Tanzania's newly elected lawmakers must arrive in Dodoma from Nov. 8 through Nov. 10 for registration before the 13th Parliament convenes, National Assembly Clerk Baraka Leonard announced. The inaugural session begins on Nov. 11 under a presidential order published on Nov. 4 in the Government Gazette Special Issue No. 11.
Parliamentary business will start with the proclamation summoning legislators, followed by selecting a speaker for the National Assembly. All representatives will take their oaths of office before confirming the prime minister's appointment and choosing a deputy speaker. President Samia Suluhu Hassan will preside over the formal opening ceremony.
Leonard instructed members to wear formal clothing and bring documentation such as their election certificates, national identity cards issued by NIDA, banking information, marriage documents if applicable, birth records for up to four dependents under age 21, verified educational credentials, and biographical summaries. The requirements ensure proper administrative processing before parliamentary duties commence.
