Muntaka sets secretariat for round the clock policing

The Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka created a new office to handle security for businesses that run day and night. He shared this plan when talking to police leaders at a meeting in Accra last Friday. This fits with what the government wants - making sure Ghana stays strong in world markets. The office will make sure police can protect places at any time.

Muntaka explained they need special ways to keep watch when businesses never close. Security must work the same whether in busy cities or country areas. He wants a system that can handle different problems that happen when everything stays open all night. The safety of workers, businesses, and regular people matters most to him.

This plan helps fight crime and keeps money safe across Ghana. Muntaka believes the police can make this work well. He promised police help would reach people faster when they needed it. That's why police spokespeople from every area spent three days learning new skills. They practiced talking better with people and sharing important news.

Better communication means police can stop crimes before they happen. The police will work closer with neighborhoods just like they do in other countries. People trust officers more when they know what's happening. Muntaka worries about police guarding private people without checking them carefully first.

He asked the police chief for a list of everyone who gets special protection. The minister questioned whether money trucks receive proper oversight. He asked who fixes these vehicles, where they park at night, and how well the drivers learn their jobs. If not watched carefully, these vehicles might cause problems after banking hours.

Muntaka sent more than 107 people from other countries back home for cheating or digging gold illegally. He told police chiefs to team up with immigration workers to send away any foreigners who break laws. He thinks people should learn how to use guns safely before getting permits. He wants this rule added to gun license applications.

The minister backed police boss Christian Tetteh Yohuno's promise to stop violent crimes. He mentioned hiring Commissioner Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah as his special helper because she brings fresh ideas about fighting crime. Muntaka assured business owners from other lands that Ghana remains safe for making money. He asked local police leaders to partner with others for national success.

Police Chief Yohuno thanked his officers for keeping Ghana safe. He noticed how much the police have changed over time but said they must keep finding better ways to work. He reminded everyone that people need to feel protected, not just see police around. The chief pushed his team to make Ghana safer and live up to what citizens expect.
