Musa Touray landed behind bars at Mile II Central Prison after getting charged with phone theft. The accused man faced Magistrate Thomos Touray at Kanifing court on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a Samsung device. Police say Touray grabbed the A28 phone worth 15,500 dalasis from victim Alagie Saidu Jallow on June 29. The crime happened at Senegambia in the Kanifing Municipality area according to prosecution officer Sergeant Saffie Bah. Touray denied the theft charges when they read them out loud during his court appearance.
The prosecution asked for more time before calling witnesses to testify against the accused thief. Magistrate Touray asked if anyone could bail out the defendant but Touray failed to meet the bail requirements. Court officials sent him straight to the notorious Mile II prison while waiting for his next hearing date. The case got pushed back until July 17 when lawyers will continue fighting over the phone theft allegations. Touray must stay locked up until someone pays his bail or the court decides his fate.
