Museveni Farm Hustle Beats Chasing Govt Jobs

President Museveni told Ugandans to focus on the Parish Development Model during his visit to Nakasongola. He said people waste time hunting for government jobs that barely exist. The government employs just 480,000 workers, but Uganda has 46 million people. Private companies and farms create far more employment opportunities. Factories already employ 1.2 million people compared to government positions.

The president gave examples of successful farmers who hire many workers. Minister Fred Byamukama employs 26 people on his 4-acre farm. Richard Nyakana uses 1.2 acres and employs 15 workers. Uganda has 40 million acres of farmable land available. Smart farming could create 105 million jobs across the country.

Parish savings groups could develop into major financial institutions over time. These groups might control banks worth 1.6 billion shillings within ten years. PDM participants borrow 1 million shillings and repay it with 120,000 interest after two years. Success stories show farmers earning over 800 million shillings annually from small plots. Active participation helps communities elect better leaders for their savings groups.
