Museveni greenlights Kayunga Bbaale Galiraya Road as China cash floods Uganda

President Museveni kicked off construction for the massive Kayunga-Bbaale-Galiraya Road during a ceremony attended by First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni. The government leader green-lit the infrastructure project that promises to transform business across Central, Northern, and Northeastern Uganda. Officials gathered to launch the ambitious roadway initiative that will connect major regional hubs. The presidential couple marked the beginning of construction work on the strategic transportation link. Ministry officials confirmed the project will boost economic activity throughout multiple districts.

China Road and Bridge Corporation won the contract to build the expensive roadway for Shs213.9 billion or 57 million dollars. The Chinese company agreed to pay construction costs upfront while the Ugandan government will start making payments after a two-year waiting period. Ministry of Works and Transport employees will oversee the construction process from start to finish. The financial arrangement allows Uganda to delay payment while getting immediate infrastructure benefits. Government planners expect the road to generate economic returns that justify the hefty price tag.

The new highway will create better transportation links between Uganda's central regions and northern territories. Business leaders anticipate increased trade opportunities once the road opens to traffic. The infrastructure project represents a major investment in connecting rural communities to urban markets. Regional development depends heavily on improved road networks that reduce transportation costs. The Kayunga-Bbaale-Galiraya Road will serve as a crucial economic artery for years to come.
