A man named Dr Kizza Besigye is in a big prison called Luzira. His family worries about him because he looks sick and weak. The police put him there because they say he had guns he should not have had.
On Friday, Dr Besigye went to court. Everyone saw he did not look well. The next night, the prison asked for his doctor to come see him. This made his family very scared because the prison had never let his doctors visit before.
Dr Besigye's sister-in-law, Edith Byanyima, told everyone President Museveni must make sure nothing bad happens to Dr Besigye. She said her family feels very sad and afraid each day he stays in prison. They want him to come home.
The highest court in Uganda said people like Dr Besigye should not be tried in military courts but should stay in prison. The person in charge of laws, Norbert Mao, said they need time to move Dr Besigye's case to regular courts.
Edith asked church leaders to help free Dr Besigye. She thinks they can make people listen and do the right thing. She wants them to speak up and save his life.
A leader from Kenya named Rigathi Gachagua asked Uganda to let Dr Besigye go. He said people took Dr Besigye from Kenya and brought him back to Uganda without following the right rules. He thinks this is wrong and wants other countries in East Africa to help make things right.
