Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has committed to paving the 25.8-kilometer Bududa-Bubulo circular road connecting Manafwa, Bududa and Namisindwa districts. During a Monday campaign event at Bukigai Primary School in Nangako Town Council, Museveni told supporters that funding for the delayed project has been secured and construction will proceed. The president highlighted electricity and transportation infrastructure as essential drivers of economic transformation, citing the industrial park in Mbale as evidence of progress enabled by power investments.
Museveni emphasized that prosperity requires engagement in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and information technology rather than dependence on government employment, which accounts for only 480,000 positions among Uganda's 50 million residents. He promoted Presidential Skilling Hubs as bridges to employment, referencing a Bugisu hub graduate who established a tailoring workshop in Bududa.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among attended the rally, thanking Museveni for compensating families affected by landslides while defending him against criticism. District officials reported that Bududa has received 48.8 billion shillings through the Parish Development Model program since 2020.
