Museveni promises Shs85 billion fund to boost salon businesses

Museveni told salon workers at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds he would kick them 85 billion shillings through a revolving fund system, and the money gets split between 850 SACCOs at 100 million per group. The president said the operators need to borrow cash for a year instead of the usual two-year setup farmers get under PDM, then pay it back with minimal interest attached.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa called out how budget money for salons and other industries gets approved but never actually released by places like the Microfinance Support Centre. Federation chair Kamanyire Celestine asked Museveni to officially launch their SACCOs nationwide and confirmed each one has over 50 members who need the funding.

Museveni went off about colonial times, making Africans think they were ugly compared to Europeans, but he said that mindset got defeated when people started embracing their natural look. Minister Balaam Barugahara reminded the youth to keep backing the president since his leadership supposedly pulls citizens out of poverty.
