President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni allocated Shs150 million to various youth and vendor cooperatives in Kampala on September 22, 2025. Moses Byaruhanga, Senior Presidential advisor on Political Mobilisation, distributed the funds during a ceremony at Okello House in Nakasero. Six cooperatives received varying amounts, with Kawempe Youth Council Leaders Coalition and Makindye Youth Leaders each obtaining Shs50 million. Kalerwe Women Market Vendors received Shs20 million while Katanga Book Makers got Shs15 million and Kalerwe Street Vendors SACCO obtained Shs10 million. Makerere Tukolere Wamu Group received Shs5 million.
Byaruhanga revealed that government investigations found only 300 functional cooperatives among 516 Myoogas that previously received Shs20 billion. He attributed program failures to poor leadership monitoring and promised additional funding for successful utilization. The advisor urged beneficiaries to support Museveni during 2026 elections while emphasizing the initiative targets economic empowerment for low-income earners.
