Museveni says Tororo boundary issue settled

Uganda's leader has confirmed completion of government procedures addressing long-standing administrative concerns in Tororo, including elevation of the municipality to city status and creation of three new districts named Mukuju, Mulanda and Kisoko. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni told supporters at Lions Park that he would verify final legal requirements with the Attorney General while outlining infrastructure commitments for the region.

The administration announced funding for the Tororo-Nagongela-Kisoko-Busulwe-Busaba route and continued work on the Busia-Tororo corridor. Health sector upgrades will transform facilities at Malaba, Lyolwa and Paaya from health center three to health center four designation while improving 19 additional locations across the district.

Museveni criticized persistent school fee collection at government institutions despite substantial education infrastructure investments, arguing the practice forces thousands of students to abandon their studies. The president attributed national development to stability established by the National Resistance Movement, principles he emphasized remain central to the 2026-2031 governing agenda focused on completing backbone infrastructure and household wealth generation.
