Museveni wraps up Acholi campaign, heads to Karamoja

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni wrapped up his Acholi sub-region campaign tour at Paul Lokech Memorial Grounds in Agago District on Saturday before moving to Karamoja. The National Resistance Movement leader emphasized security improvements and economic programs in his manifesto, which focuses on achieving a high middle-income status. He credited air surveillance technology and community intelligence for eliminating cattle rustling that once plagued the area.

The government has distributed over 36 billion shillings through the Parish Development Model to 36,075 households in Agago, representing 53 percent of district families. Emyooga cooperatives received 2.05 billion shillings across 54 savings groups serving 17,429 members. Infrastructure expansion brought electricity through Kitgum to the West Nile after Swedish partners withdrew funding for transmission lines from Patongo to Adilang.

Agago operates 112 government primary schools serving 42 of 117 parishes, leaving 75 parishes without facilities. The president directed education officials to address the gap. District chairman Walter Oketta Ogwang thanked Museveni for his leadership as thousands of supporters attended the rally.
