The National Muslim Conference fired back at some Christian groups who got weird about religious freedom in mission schools that take government money. They pointed out that the Ghana Education Service already has rules letting Muslim students wear hijabs and skip worship services from other faiths, plus there was a whole agreement signed last year about being inclusive in schools that get state funding.
The conference made it clear they are not asking for mosques to be built inside Christian schools. Muslim kids just want to pray, fast, and not be forced into religious stuff that goes against their beliefs. They also noted that Islamic schools do not make Christian students participate in Muslim activities or wear hijabs, so the same respect should go both ways. The group said if mission schools want to run things their way without following national regulations, they should probably stop taking taxpayer dollars and drop out of the national placement system.
