Mutasa couple split over prophet visit

A marriage in Mutasa faces collapse following a dispute over an alleged infidelity. Tawanda Bhandi reported to Chief Mutasa’s court that he discovered a man leaving his home, whom his wife, Joice Mungati, initially identified as her uncle. Bhandi later asserted the man was a prophet and his wife's lover, a claim partially supported by his sister-in-law’s testimony. This incident led Bhandi to leave the household and cohabit with another woman.

Mungati denied the entire account, stating her husband fabricated the story to justify abandoning his family. She accused him of having a preexisting relationship with another woman. Bhandi countered by describing a history of violence, including an alleged axe attack by his wife that left him with a head injury.

Chief Mutasa, observing a complete breakdown of trust, advised the couple to pursue counseling but acknowledged the deep-seated animosity. He emphasized Bhandi's ongoing responsibility to his children regardless of the marriage's outcome.
