Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi has appointed seven individuals to the House of Representatives, exercising his constitutional authority following the recent general election. The new members include Shariff Ali Shariff, Masoud Ali Mohammed, and Dr. Saada Mkuya Salum, all of whom previously held ministerial positions in his administration.
These appointments, effective November 6, fill some of the ten seats the president is permitted to designate. In a separate proceeding, the house elected Mwanaasha Khamis Juma, a representative from the Dimani constituency, as its Deputy Speaker.
