Young Malawi striker Mwisho Mhango fired two goals past Zimbabwe keepers during his team's opening match at the COSAFA U20 Championship. The 18-year-old player from Ascent Academy helped Malawi beat Zimbabwe 2-1 and grab the top spot in Group A. Mhango found the net after 24 minutes and again at 72 minutes to seal the victory. Zimbabwe managed one goal through Tadiwa Chamuchichi at 57 minutes but could not stop Malawi's win. Match officials named Mhango the best player on the field.
The talented midfielder will head to Germany after the tournament ends to join Hannover 96. Mhango becomes the first player from his country to reach the German Bundesliga. He started playing for Malawi's youth teams when he was just 14 years old. The young star also helped his Under-20 squad win the 4 Nations Tournament earlier this year.
