Myanmar opens 26th Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition

Myanmar continues to preserve its rich cultural heritage, thanks to the efforts of past generations who safeguarded and passed down these traditions. The 26th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition was officially opened yesterday morning at the Myanmar International Convention Centre I in Nay Pyi Taw. Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, delivered the opening address.

The ceremony was marked by the cutting of the ribbon by Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, and Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin. Artists from the Fine Arts Department performed the opening song to honor the event.

In his address, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing highlighted Myanmar’s enduring cultural and artistic traditions, which reflect the nation's dignity and global standing. He emphasized that preserving and promoting these traditions is the responsibility of younger generations. He also noted the interconnected nature of Myanmar’s arts, including singing, dancing, and music.

The Acting President expressed his hope that the competition would showcase the talents of young artists and foster unity among Myanmar’s diverse regions. The event, which aims to promote cultural exchange and solidarity, is seen as an opportunity to further Myanmar’s national prestige and contribute to the country's development. Following the ceremony, the Acting President and his wife greeted the participating maestros and distinguished guests.
