Mzembi theft trial stalls again as judge postpones hearing

Walter Mzembi stays stuck behind bars after a judge pushed his theft trial back immediately delaying proceedings for the one-time Tourism minister regarding that two million dollar trust property charge. High Court Justice Benjamin Chikowero rescheduled everything while the accused remains in custody claiming he feels sick.

State attorneys allege he swiped television sets meant for 2010 FIFA World Cup fan parks. He apparently ran away after Robert Mugabe got booted out but authorities grabbed him immediately upon returning from exile nearly a year ago.

Defense lawyers Killian Mudiki and Emmanuel Samundombe attended a case management meeting to figure out the next steps. He previously skipped bail citing cancer treatment needs causing the government to issue an arrest warrant.

Mzembi insists President Emmerson Mnangagwa targets him for political reasons.
