NAF C-130 lands safely in Lisbon after Burkina detention

That detained Nigerian Air Force plane finally made it to Portugal. The C-130 aircraft, NAF 913, arrived at the OGMA maintenance facility in Lisbon after being held in Burkina Faso. Authorities had accused the plane of violating airspace back on December eighth. A Nigerian delegation led by Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar secured the release of the crew and aircraft after talks with President Ibrahim Traoré. The ferry flight followed an updated plan, stopping in Banjul and Casablanca before reaching its final destination.

A statement from Air Force spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame confirmed the safe arrival. He noted all personnel were safe and in good spirits, marking the end of the movement for scheduled depot maintenance. The Nigerian Air Force thanked the host authorities for their cooperation during the transit. They also reaffirmed their commitment to safety and professional standards, closing the chapter on an unexpected diplomatic and operational delay.
