Naim Sheikh's Journey From Rejection to Resurgence in Bangladesh Cricket

Mohammad Naim Sheikh plays cricket for Bangladesh as a left-handed batter. He faced tough times against Sri Lanka teams and scored just 95 runs across eight matches. Other players ranked higher for the same position on the team. Cricket officials and coaches often rejected him during this difficult period. The young athlete decided to change his approach completely.

Sheikh hired personal trainers and rented practice grounds for months. He paid 7,000 taka daily to use the ULAB Cricket Ground for private sessions. The player worked with coach Anwar and mind trainer Sabit Rayhan each morning. They practiced before students arrived at the university campus. Sheikh broke several classroom windows during his powerful hitting sessions.

The determined batter learned new techniques like sweep shots and reverse sweeps. He practiced hitting chest-high balls over fielders in different directions. Hockey balls replaced regular cricket balls during training to build strength. These hard balls left bruises on his chest and arms for months. Sheikh also hired a calisthenics athlete to improve his wrist and forearm power.

Sheikh performed well in domestic tournaments after his training period. He scored 511 runs in the Bangladesh Premier League and won the best batter award. The player also managed 618 runs in the Dhaka Premier League across 11 matches. His strike rates improved dramatically during these competitions. Sheikh earned his place back on the national cricket team through consistent performance.
