Kenya just dropped a new citizen-focused tool in Nairobi that lets regular people keep tabs on government contracts and spending. The Institute for Social Accountability built this thing with help from Transparency International Kenya and European Union funding, and it's designed to catch corruption before money gets wasted. Anthony Buluma from the Young Parliamentarians Association and Diana Gichengo from TISA were there talking about how procurement eats up the biggest chunk of government cash.
The module targets the whole contracting process since that's where most public funds disappear into schools, hospitals, roads, and water systems. Viola Ochola from the Commission on Administrative Justice pointed out that shady stuff happens when nobody's watching, and processes stay murky. The whole point is getting citizens involved in governance instead of just complaining after everything goes sideways.
