Namalomba hails productive week in Parliament

The Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Shadric Namalomba, characterized the second week of the parliamentary session as very productive. He reported that multiple ministers provided updates on critical national matters, including fuel shortages, electricity blackouts, food security, and economic pressures. The House also confirmed Richard Luhanga as the new Inspector General of Police.

Namalomba stated that legislative debate focused on effectively addressing these challenges, which impact both government functions and citizen welfare. He affirmed the administration's commitment to national development, aligning with the Malawi 2063 agenda and its party manifesto. The minister emphasized that development is a continuous process requiring successive governments to build upon existing programs.

Simplex Chithyola Banda, the Leader of the Opposition, concurred with this assessment. He noted that the general debate reflected issues previously highlighted by President Peter Mutharika, with members raising constituency-level concerns.
