Namibia tourism roars back, nearly hits pre-pandemic highs

Namibia pulled over a million tourists this year after Environment Minister Indileni Daniel dropped numbers showing 1.25 million arrivals compared to 863,000 last time around. South Africa sent the most people at 38.5 percent of total visitors, while Germany led overseas markets at 8.8 percent, and Americans plus Brits, plus French travelers filled out the rest. The bounce back hit 79 percent of pre-pandemic levels when the country used to see nearly 1.6 million heads rolling through.

Almost half the tourists showed up for vacation stuff, and business trips made up another chunk at 15.8 percent. Daniel wants tourism businesses to work on their online game and push domestic travel harder to smooth out seasonal dips in the industry.
