NamPower worker fatally stabbed during argument over missing cattle near Dordabis

A power company worker died after a knife attack at a farm near Dordabis on Saturday. Nicolaas Orlam visited Farm Swartkoppies with his wife to check their animals. The 58-year-old man got into a fight with a younger relative about missing calves. Police say the argument started over cattle that had escaped from their pen. Deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the deadly incident.

Orlam hit the 28-year-old suspect during their heated dispute. The younger man pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Orlam in the chest. Orlam attempted to leave the area but fell down and died soon after. Family members believe Orlam suspected the man of stealing his cattle over time. The suspect happens to be Orlam's wife's brother.

The victim owned many head of livestock at the rural property. Orlam had spent more than 28 years working for Namibia Power Corporation. He held a position at the Van Eck power station located outside Windhoek. His family members received notification about his death from authorities. Police arrested the suspect and continue investigating the fatal stabbing case.
