Nana Agradaa Sentenced to 15 Years for Money-Doubling Scam, Pleads for Prayers

Patricia Asiamah faces 15 years behind bars after a court found her guilty of fraud. The woman who calls herself Nana Agradaa ran a fake money scheme that tricked many people. Judge Evelyn Asamoah handed down the sentence at an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday. Police officers walked the convicted woman from the courtroom to a waiting car. She begged her followers to continue praying for her during this difficult time.

The former witch doctor turned church leader promised to double people's cash through magic powers. Her 2022 television show convinced victims to hand over large amounts of money. Court officials made her take a pregnancy test before announcing the final punishment. She leads the Heaven Way Church located in Weija and built a following of believers. Many trusted her claims about supernatural abilities to multiply their savings.

Authorities arrested Asiamah back in November 2022 for running the Sika Gari money scam. Her church members posted angry videos online after discovering the truth about her lies. The videos showed how upset people felt when they realized she had stolen their money. The court decided she committed crimes related to false advertising and cheating people out of their cash. Her hard labor sentence means she must work during her prison time.
