Nandom Municipal Chief Executive Anthony Ziniel started construction on new offices for the local Health and Agriculture departments on Monday. The project costs over one million Ghana cedis from district grant money and is part of the long-range plans for area growth. Ziniel said better buildings will help staff work more efficiently. He believes the new space will let both departments serve people better.
Local chief Naa Bernard Niyel thanked officials for picking Danko community as the site and asked residents to back the project for faster completion. Engineer Bright Kpabitey explained that the funding comes from a system that rewards good local government performance. Current money allows just ground-floor construction instead of the first planned two-story building. The finished space will have ten offices, bathrooms, a meeting room, and full furnishings.
Workers should finish the job in eight months with a handover next December. The builder, GabSeb Enterprise, promised to hire local people for construction jobs. Company head Sebastian Gan said he would choose workers from the Danko area. Many officials attended the ceremony with community members. The new offices should create better working conditions for staff and help connect them with local people.
