National Bank of Malawi donated K5 million to support the Tea Association of Malawi Limited's annual conference scheduled for July 31 through August 1, 2025, at Salima. The bank presented the contribution during a ceremony held on Tuesday in Blantyre. Enala Chirwa from NBM Mobile and E-Money Services explained that the donation advances the bank's digital financial services expansion goals within the agriculture sector.
The conference theme focuses on digital innovation and improved living standards for tea sector workers. Chirwa emphasized that digital tools can create safer and more transparent financial transactions for farmers in remote locations. The bank aims to extend secure financial solutions from urban centers to rural communities through strategic partnerships.
TAML Board Member Amos Suluma praised the bank's timely assistance for the industry gathering. He described the event as essential for collaborative discussions about financial access, gender equality, and labor conditions. The conference will welcome smallholder farmers, estate managers, government representatives, financial service companies, and development organizations.
