Navy teams shut down six hidden oil sites at Obodo Omadina in Delta State. Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu told reporters about these actions on Monday in Warri. The crews found these places after people shared tips about where criminals worked. The Navy ran three different searches between April and May as part of Operation Delta Sanity II. They found large amounts of stolen fuel at each location.
The first search happened on April 21 when sailors found two illegal sites with 1,900 liters of stolen oil. They discovered two more places on May 4 with 3,710 liters of crude oil and 330 liters of diesel fuel hidden there. The last search on May 11 found another two sites holding 3,050 liters of crude and 675 liters of diesel. All together, the navy seized 8,660 liters of stolen crude oil and 1,005 liters of illegal diesel. The stolen products sat in holes, sacks, and cooking ovens across these locations.
Captain Okoloagu warned people to stop these activities right away. He said the navy would keep fighting against anyone who tries to steal from Nigeria. These searches help protect the nation from losing money through oil theft. The navy follows orders from Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla to end all illegal acts in Nigerian waters. They remain ready to catch more criminals who steal oil.
