NCDC Launches Preparations for 2026 International Conference on Curriculum Development

Uganda's National Curriculum Development Centre started planning for its second worldwide education conference Wednesday. The April 2026 event will bring together teachers, researchers and government officials from many countries. Leaders want to change how schools teach students to meet modern world needs. The conference builds on success from the first gathering held three years ago. Officials expect the meeting to spark new ideas about learning and teaching methods.

Dr. Richard Irumba serves as deputy director and leads the conference planning committee. He told attendees that education must change quickly to keep up with technology advances and climate problems. The conference theme focuses on creative teaching approaches for sustainable education across the globe. Organizers selected topics covering computer technology, environmental awareness and teacher training programs. Abstract submissions from educators worldwide show strong interest among education professionals.

Professor George Openjuru chairs the governing council and spoke at the launch ceremony. He explained how curriculum conferences help countries share research findings and teaching strategies. The meeting supports Uganda's Fourth National Development Plan goals for improving human skills development. Educational leaders want students to learn job skills that match what employers need around the world. Conference organizers continue accepting research paper proposals through August 31st.

Dr. Grace Baguma directs the curriculum center and reported progress on current education projects. The center works on computer training for teachers and resources for students with special needs. Officials invite local and international partners to support the conference through sponsorship or collaboration. Event planners hope to create lasting changes that improve education quality throughout Uganda and beyond.
