NCIC Team Steps In to Calm Kisii and Transmara Clashes

Kenya sent a peace team to Kisii and Transmara after deadly fights broke out between local groups. Samuel Kobia leads the National Unity Commission and has teamed up with police and community members to fix the problem. He wants folks to talk through their issues rather than attack each other. His group has asked religious figures, community groups, and respected elders to help bring everyone back together.

The commission will punish anyone who starts trouble, regardless of who they might be. Kobia believes residents deserve to live without fear, which only happens when all sides work as one. He sees the mix of different cultures as something that makes Kenya stronger instead of weaker. Every person should reject division and help build lasting harmony across the country.

These recent clashes have left a trail of destruction that deeply troubles the peace commission. They feel great sympathy for those who lost family members and for injured people recovering in hospitals. The commission also feels for farmers whose crops went up in flames. Kobia stated very clearly that all fighting must stop immediately to prevent more suffering.

The peace chief reminded citizens that encouraging violence breaks laws established back in 2008. Anyone causing problems faces serious punishment, whether big shots or everyday people. Already, two people have died from these clashes, with over twenty others suffering from arrow wounds. The violence started over stolen cattle and has resulted in many acres of sugar farms being set on fire during these confrontations.
