NCSOFT has officially announced Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new MMORPG based on the Horizon franchise. The game is being developed for PC and mobile devices. Jan-Bart van Beek, Studio Head at the original developer Guerrilla Games, stated that his team had playtested the project and endorsed its fit within the universe. He indicated that players would share a world involving both cooperative machine hunts and competitive struggles over resources.
Executive Producer Sung-gu Lee explained that the combat system has been specifically tailored for the MMORPG format. He described new mechanics that allow players to climb onto damaged machines, set traps, and use salvaged weapons. Lee emphasized that large-scale battles would require strategic cooperation between players. The game is set in a new region called the Deadlands, inspired by the Southwestern United States.
