NDPC seeks GITFiC, state agencies link on debt and AfCFTA plans

Ghana's top planning official wants government agencies to work with an international trade group on major economic projects. Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah leads the National Development Planning Commission and spoke at a recent meeting about partnership opportunities. The commission will help oversee projects related to global debt issues and African trade agreements. Officials from the Finance Ministry and Bank of Ghana will also join this oversight committee. The group plans to meet both online and face to face.

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference has started programs at six universities across Ghana and Togo. Students at these schools will help carry out the organization's economic initiatives. Conference organizers must send the planning commission several important documents for review. These papers contain a six-year development plan and course materials that could become part of national policy. The commission will examine how these ideas fit with existing government programs.

The annual conference will take place during November with government backing. Officials are creating new policies about managing national debt that the planning commission will review. The President's office has already directed the planning agency to work with the conference organizers. This partnership could help Ghana play a bigger role in African economic development. Government support gives the trade conference more influence over economic planning decisions.
