Veteran actress Neena Gupta spoke candidly at FICCI Frames 2025 about the challenges older actors face in finding suitable roles. She said that while she once received several strong parts that matched her age, many of those projects were later shelved without explanation.
Gupta, known for her performance in Badhaai Ho, said she was excited by the scripts offered to her but later learned that big-budget producers had entered the OTT space, sidelining smaller filmmakers who used to create such stories. Despite the shift, she added that she continues to find work and remains active in the industry.
The 25th edition of FICCI Frames, held on Oct. 7–8 in Mumbai, brought together leading figures from film and media. Among the participants were Ekta Kapoor, Hansal Mehta, Shoojit Sircar, Kiran Rao, and actors Pratik Gandhi, Huma Qureshi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Divya Dutta, and Rajpal Yadav. On the opening day, Akshay Kumar and Ayushmann Khurrana shared insights with the audience.
