A small lodge meetup reportedly flipped into panic and property damage. Nelson Chamisa, previously head of the Citizens Coalition for Change, was meeting supporters in Bulawayo when alleged attackers forced their way inside. Witness accounts linked the group to ZANU PF and described work suits, a Honda Fit, machetes, axes, and sjamboks.
Attendees reportedly escaped over walls or hid around the property as vehicles took hits. Patrick Cheza’s Range Rover suffered heavy damage, while Chamisa’s vehicle was targeted as well. One account claimed Chamisa’s trousers were torn. Cheza previously contested Chirumanzu for CCC and is considered part of Chamisa’s close circle.
Amos Chibaya acknowledged being in Bulawayo but denied visiting the lodge or facing an attack, calling the story ZANU PF propaganda. Chamisa had traveled there for a remembrance ceremony honoring Ward 2 councillor Joyce Ndlovu at the Amphitheatre. The small gathering proceeded without him.
