Nembudziya Grounds all set for Independence bash

Nembudziya Open Grounds has become the center of big changes across Gokwe North. Workers race against time preparing for Zimbabwe's 45th Independence Day celebration plus the Uhuru Cup soccer final. These events match perfectly with this year's theme about working together toward the country's Vision 2030 goals. The massive gathering will draw more than 100,000 people who want to witness history unfold.

Before the main event, the First Family plans to host thousands of kids at Nyamuroro High School on April 17. That evening, everyone can enjoy the Independence Gala at Nembudziya Government High School nearby. About 3,000 children will stay at Nyamuroro from April 15 through April 19. Construction teams are pushing forward with major updates at all three locations where activities will happen.

Crews finished drilling over 120 new water wells across both Gokwe North and South districts, including several right where events will take place. When celebration day arrives, spectators will watch the traditional lighting of the Independence Flame, followed by the exciting Torch Relay. Dance groups from Kwekwe, Gokwe, and neighboring areas will perform cultural shows throughout the festivities.

Soccer fans can cheer as Simba Bhora faces FC Platinum during the main event. Earlier at the Children's Party, Herentals Queens will battle against Black Rhinos on the field. Previously these national celebrations always happened in Harare, but President Mnangagwa changed that rule. His administration believes every province should take turns hosting, making sure all parts of Zimbabwe benefit from new projects.

Engineer Akim Maravira, who heads construction for the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, is confident about finishing everything on schedule. "Everyone works hard here in Gokwe Nembudziya preparing for the 2025 celebrations. We've sped up progress to reach 75 percent completion already. Everything should finish by April 10," he explained. Road contractor Benny Majoni confirmed crews keep improving the route connecting Kadoma, Sanyati, and Nembudziya.

Young people around Gokwe praise these improvements because of the celebrations. "We thank the Government for giving us jobs during this time. Roads look better, and our entire area has improved," said Amon Ncube. Last Thursday, Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial party chairperson Edson Chiherenge noticed how much Gokwe North has transformed. He mentioned that most projects reached 70 percent completion well ahead of the April 18 deadline.

The government built brand new dormitories for boys and girls at Nyamuroro Secondary School, where the children will gather. Officials will also open a modern nursing school at Nembudziya District Hospital during the celebration. These permanent improvements remain after the parties end, creating lasting benefits for local communities. The nationwide party brings real progress to places that need attention for many years.
