NEPC, CBI partnership boosts Nigeria’s ginger exports

Nigeria's ginger sector has gained traction with European markets through a multiyear collaboration between the national export authority and a Dutch development organization focused on sustainable sourcing from emerging economies. Executive director Nonye Ayeni told delegates in Abuja that the partnership has trained 14 companies and seven trade specialists while generating buyer connections across the European Union.

Five importing firms from the Netherlands and Germany arrived to evaluate supply chains and negotiate commercial arrangements with local producers in Lagos and Kano. The initiative has equipped participants with export marketing strategies and compliance expertise while facilitating trade missions that linked Nigerian suppliers to continental purchasers. Ayeni said the program positions the country as a competitive origin for responsibly cultivated ginger as the collaboration approaches its final phase.
