New Delhi crowns G V Prakash, Vaathi fans howl 20 years

Music composer G V Prakash Kumar received his second National Award from President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The recognition came for his musical contribution to the film Vaathi starring Dhanush. Kumar dedicated the honor to supporters who have remained loyal throughout his two-decade career spanning 110 films. His first National Award recognized the background score for Soorarai Pottru featuring actor Suriya. The composer expressed gratitude for this latest achievement.

Kumar explained the distinct challenges between composing background music and creating songs for films. Background scoring requires musical accompaniment for two to three hours of footage while songs demand composition for approximately thirty minutes. The veteran artist acknowledged both forms present unique difficulties for composers. Kumar has established himself as a versatile entertainer through acting and producing roles beyond his musical career. He expressed aspirations to earn future National Awards recognition for his work in acting or production capacities.
