New Tick Grease Frenzy Sweeps Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Fights Ticks to Keep Cattle Healthy.

Zimbabwe's government wants to help cattle farmers. Ticks can make cows very sick. They carry diseases that harm and even kill many cows each year.

The government has a plan to stop this. It is called the Presidential Blitz Tick Grease Scheme. The goal is to give special grease to over a million farmers. Putting this grease on cows stops ticks from biting them.

So far, the government has distributed over 500,000 kilograms of grease. They want to provide 1.5 million kilograms in total.

The government is also helping in other ways. It is giving cows shots to prevent illnesses like foot-and-mouth disease and anthrax and vaccinating chickens against Newcastle disease.

Experts think these steps are crucial. They say Zimbabwe has more cattle diseases in the rainy season. Using grease and vaccines should protect the animals during this time.

The government knows healthy cattle are important. When cows are well, farmers can sell them for more money. This aids the farmers and the whole country.

Farmers can do their part by regularly greasing their cattle and having their cows vaccinated when the government requires it.

By working together, Zimbabwe's government and farmers can keep many cattle healthy and productive. This benefits everyone in the country.
