Newmont pays GH¢2.39bn to Ghana in Q3 taxes

Newmont transferred GH₵2.388 billion to Ghanaian authorities during the third quarter through various tax obligations, royalties, levies and carried interest payments distributed across government agencies. The mining company's obligations included corporate tax contributions of GH₵1.192 billion alongside capital gains tax, mineral royalties, and withholding requirements processed through the Ghana Revenue Authority, Forestry Commission and Ministry of Finance.

Country Manager Danquah Addo-Yobo said the payments underscore the organization's dedication to meeting state obligations while advancing transparency and governance standards. Combined with earlier remittances, total fiscal contributions reached GH₵9.874 billion spanning the first three quarters.

The recent launch of the Ahafo North mining facility is projected to generate between 275,000 and 325,000 ounces of gold annually, expanding production capacity and strengthening the company's role in national development through employment, procurement, and community programs.
